We untied from the mooring ball and left the mooring field at 07:04. Another cloudy and dreary day. Here is our photo journal for the day:
Port Royal Marina
Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot
The white sand beach at Dolphin Head on Port Royal Sound
Beautiful homes on Dolphin Head
Hilton Head Marina
Huge homes with a beach and a view
A sailboat being towed on Calibogue Sound
A manatee habitat; idle speed
And we are entering Georgia!
My favourite one so far
Causton Bluff -Sam Varnedoe Bridge
We had to be careful going through Hell Gate; watching the depth. Raccoon Key is on the left and Little Dawn Island on the right. We had to be sure to stay right in the centre; it is a very narrow cut. We timed it to go through at high tide so it wasn’t too nerve wracking.
Once we were through Hell Gate, we were in deeper water in the Florida Passage. We anchored at Redbird Creek and set the hook at 16:17.Very windy and cold. Check out the marsh reeds; almost laying down from the wind.
We had no cell service and had to put the extra quilt back on the bed. It was a long, dreary day.
Today we travelled 60.97 nm.
