November 12 Church Creek to Beaufort SC

Well it was another peaceful night at anchor and we awoke to another nice sunrise. The waters were very calm as we left the anchorage at 07:25 and headed back into the ICW.

For awhile, there was not a lot to see but after awhile, we did see a shipyard or repair shop in Toogoodoo Creek.

We could see a naval ship in the yard too.

As we grind along, there are more homes with very long walkways. And lots of dismal looking deadwood.

Shortly after we spot a dolphin in the water and as a trawler goes by, this one loves playing in his bow wave.

And we also saw a home getting some renovations or just being built. Whatever, it is a very nice lookin’ place!

We motor in to Beaufort, past a yacht club and continue on down the river to anchor.

Amazing Grace dropped anchor at 14:45 and we raft beside her. We get our laundry and dinghy back to the marina to see if there are laundry facilities available. There is and they welcome us with open arms. What a friendly place here at the Lady’s Island Marina. They gave us the codes for the washrooms and wifi and even codes for the bicycle locks. And they told us about a place to go for dinner tonight. $4.00 gets you a hamburger, a hot dog, potato salad and a bowl of baked beans!

We start the laundry and go on the dock and we see the Active Captain trawler here. It is a 53 ft named aCapella. We see Karen on the deck with their 2 yellow labs and chat a few minutes and then meet Jeff. They are also headed for the Bahamas after doing the Great Loop last year.

We dinghy back and get our shower things and tell Jim and Cheryl about the dinner deal This is neat place, called the Fillin Station. It is a bar, with a pool table and a barbeque pit out back. The food was good and we met some great people. One lady, Dianne who has just moved her with her hubby from Minneapolis. They have bought a boat and will stay here all winter and may take it further south next year. It was a fun evening. We gathered our clothes from the laundry and headed back to Persuasion. We will stay here tomorrow.

Today we travelled 42.6 nm.

  1. You are experiences one of the beauties of travelling in the USA. Great food at great prices.

    Two choices:
Walk 4 miles to grocery store, lug it home, prep food, cook food, do dishes by hand
    Or
    Eat great food for $4

    No brainer. 🙂
