October 31 Belhaven to Oriental

We weighed anchor early this morning and were underway by 07:15. Heading for Oriental where there are two free spaces on the town dock. First come, first serve. We motored along the canal looking at the sights. Check out these pine trees.

It was a little chillier today and many boats were like us, heading for warmer weather.

We came upon a Coast Guard Rescue Station.

And then some local industry here.

We saw “Two Boys”  and thought of our two grandsons.  Then we saw a few locals out fishing.

Later in the morning we were able to sail and before long we were at our destination for the day. As we head in past the breakwater, we see a blue heron welcoming us to Oriental.

No free spaces on the dock for us so we putt around and set the anchor at 13:30. We will check with the marina in the morning to see if we can get a slip for tomorrow night as we hear there is bad weather coming our way. Here are a few photos of the anchorage.

We were able to get free wifi here so we did some face times, answered some emails and uploaded some blogs. It was wonderful to see the grandkids in their Halloween costumes. So sweet, nice that Scot, Jody and Margie were in ON and could go trick or treating with Tayton, Easton and Elle.  Aren’t they just the sweetest trick or treater grandkids ever?  We watched a bit of TV and had a quiet evening.halloween

Today we travelled 40.7 nm.
