September 30 Bohemia river to Annapolis

What a peaceful night in here. We woke up to a bit of fog and we weighed anchor at 07:00.

The fog burned off quickly and it was another beautiful day. We meet some barges on the Chesapeake and keep motoring on.

We pass by this boat and he is sure loaded down with what we think may be crab pots as we still see lots of markers in the water. We also see a plant near Baltimore.

We are finding the lighthouse markers here, although very old, are really pretty.

We see this bridge on the horizon for many, many miles and actually as we get closer, see it is 2 bridges.

The bridges are massive and long. As we looked back we could see people up working on the bridge. Wowzers, it looks so scary and makes us thankful for these brave souls who work to keep bridges safe.

It isn’t long before we see some sights of Annapolis, mainly the Naval Academy. We had been here by car 3 years ago for the boat show but seeing all the waterfront is something.

So many yacht clubs! And these are just a few of them.

We motor in to Back Bay for fuel at one of the docks and then go to Spa Creek and wait for the bridge to open for us.

We look for a good anchorage as this will be our resting place for the next 2 weeks. We see beautiful brick buildings along the waterfront and the homes around here are real easy on the eyes! Gorgeous with their own docks and well manicured lawns.

We set the anchor at 15:30 and then go for a dinghy ride. We decide maybe we should move our boat away from a shoreline so we may not have as many bugs and have more breeze. Mike and Jim move the boat and we eat dinner on Amazing Grace. We can’t believe that we are here! As the song goes, LOOKS LIKE WE MADE IT!! We were told we should be here at least one week before the show to make sure we would get an anchorage. So our goal was for Oct 5. And we made it by Sept 30! We met up with Amazing Grace in Shelburne, NS on Sept 5 and since then have been moving quickly, some long days covering lots of nautical miles. Tomorrow will be 4 months since we left Stormont Yacht Club for this adventure. Very fitting that we are at the end of Leg 4. The Captain will be updating his log just before leaving here. We will not be doing daily updates but will post a few times from here.

Oh and great news. Amber, Jason and family will be coming next weekend! I bet those kiddies have grown so much in 4 months! So looking forward to seeing them all. And we hear Eric and Elke will be in town for the show as well. It will be nice to see familiar faces.

It was an exciting day and we can’t believe the days are so short now. No alarm in the morning. Hooray!

Today we travelled 48.1 nm.
